The Cologne Zoo is one of Germany’s oldest and most famous zoos and one of Cologne’s top attractions. Spread across around 20 hectares, it is home to more than 10,000 animals from over 750 species — including elephants, giraffes, lions, penguins, monkeys and exotic reptiles.

One of the biggest highlights is the Elephant Park, one of the largest of its kind in Europe. Visitors also love the aquarium, rainforest house and the spacious habitats for big cats and primates. The zoo offers a great mix of nature, conservation and education.

The zoo is very family-friendly and offers playgrounds, restaurants and plenty of shaded areas to relax. Thanks to its location near the Rhine River and the Cologne cable car, a zoo visit can easily be combined with other city activities.
